Lemon sharks (Negaprion brevirostris) inhabit reefs alongside many other midsized sharks. They are a dull yellow which makes them hard to spot in sand or light tinted mud. Like so many other fish, they are darker on top and lighter underneath so they blend in with the sunlit surface. In this picture, the photographer's flash reverses that camouflage effect.
